WHAT’S THE PROCESS FOR A PERSON-TO-PERSON TRANSFER?
These steps explain the process of FFL transfers so that you can understand the process.
- Bring in the firearm.
- Both parties must be present at drop off.
- Both parties ID verification.
-You must be of legal age.
-LA resident with a valid (not expired) LA Driver’s License with your current address (No P.O.
Boxes)
-LA ID (not expired) with a photo and your current address (No P.O. Boxes)
-Military ID with current PERMANENT orders are also acceptable.
Utility Bills, Limited Driver’s Licenses, or Hunting Licenses are not valid/acceptable forms of
ID. - The receiving party fills out the 4473-firearms transaction record.
This includes a NICS (National Instant Criminal Search) background check which usually takes
anywhere from 15-45 minutes to return either Proceed, Deny, or Delay.
LA License to Carry holders do not require a NICS background check. - Pay the transfer fee and receive your firearm.
